
Obituary of Richard John Lienhardt
Richard John Lienhardt, 76, of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born October 15, 1948 in Johnstown, PA a son of the late Vaughn N. and Helen E. Jankura Lienhardt.
Richard is survived by his loving daughters, Amy and her husband Kenneth Brown of Fort Mill, SC, and Anne Lienhardt of Fairmont, WV, his grandchildren Jay, Matthew and Andrew Brown, his brother, David Lienhardt and his husband Brian Pinci of Gaithersburg, MD, as well as several close friends, family and grand-dog, Louie.
Richard was a member of St. Peter’s the Fisherman Catholic Church in Fairmont. He was a 1967 graduate of Bishop McCort High School in Johnstown, PA, as well as a 1975 graduate of Fairmont State College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and was also a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fraternity, and attended West Virginia University where he earned several credits towards his Master’s degree in Safety Management.
Richard retired in 2004 as a coal miner from the Consolidated Coal Company with over 32 years of service. He later served as a teacher’s aid in the Ohio County School System, and then worked as a table dealer at the Wheeling Island Casino in his retirement. His work ethic and way with people allowed him to serve others in all of these capacities.
Richard was a genuinely kind and caring person who had a positive impact on everyone he met. He prioritized staying connected with his family and friends throughout his life. His optimism was infectious. He appreciated the simple things in life and lived in the moment. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid WVU and Steelers fan. His two daughters and three grandsons were the joys of his life.

The family has entrusted arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance with his wishes, cremation services will occur.
