Dennis Short

Obituary of Dennis Dale Short

The angels came and took my beloved husband, Dennis Dale “Poppy” Short to Heaven on April 25, 2025. He was born on September 14, 1951 in Kawkawlin, Michigan, a son of the late Paul and Helen Bridge Short. His wife, Pamela (Yoak) Short, daughter, Tenika Armstead, and grandson, Dylan Armstead were at his bedside while daughter, Angel Armstead, and grandson, Kai Stallman, were comforting him through Facetime. Dennis was honorably discharged with U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam Era. He took pride in his Toughman Boxing career. Dennis and his brother David owned the Short Brother Construction Company located on Anna Maria Island, Florida. Dennis was very proud to help construct multiple Arnold Palmer Womens’ and Childrens’ Hospitals in the greater Orlando area. Dennis enjoyed the outdoors, which included camping, fishing, hunting, and of course, deep diving for coral in the Bahamas. He loved his Bella girl, our boxer, and cherished spending time with our grandsons. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Pamela Don (Yoak) Short, his only son Dennis Paul DeGarmo, his four step-children, Chad Crescenzi, of San Diego, CA, William Ray Martin of Fairmont, Angel Armstead of Shreevport, LA, and Tenika Armstead of Bridgeport, WV. Also surviving are his grandsons, Dylan Armstead of Morgantown, WV, Kai Stallman of Bridgeport, WV, JaDon Wilson of Sheeveport, LA, and Laken Imperial of Mooresville, North Carolina, his siblings in Michigan and Florida, and many nephews and nieces, as he was the youngest of thirteen children. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport WV. Friends and family may visit the funeral home on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 10AM until 12 noon. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday and 12 noon.
