Obituary of Betty Ruth Hess Eddy

Betty Ruth Hess Eddy, 87, of Rivesville passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born in Glenville, WV, a daughter of the late Harry Hess and Thelma Ruth Radcliff Hess. Betty is survived by her son, Rodger Delane Eddy and his wife Kathy of Rivesville; daughter, Joyce Darlene Murphy and her husband Kenneth of Grant Town; five grandchildren, Matt, Mandi, Lena, Jeremy, and Lucas; six great-grandchildren; close family friend, Mikki Shipley; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bernard Delane Eddy; daughter, Tonya Deann Eddy; brothers, Jack, Harry, and John Rymer Hess; and sisters, Toni Skidmore, Kathryn Corley, and Dixie Hager. Betty was a member of Highlawns United Methodist Church and worked as a personal caregiver and for the Rivesville Rescue Squad as an EMT. She enjoyed cooking, puzzles, books, and taking care of her kids. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Betty’s memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. The family would like to thank the staff at Guardian Fairmont Health and Rehab in Fairmont for all their loving care and support. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 2nd and Jasper St., Rivesville, WV 26588, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating.
