Obituary of Rebecca Carol Wilson
Rebecca Carol Wilson, of Morgantown, WV, passed away surrounded by family and friends on March 30, 2025, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Stillwater, OK on November 26, 1953 (Thanksgiving), a daughter to the late Warren Anthony and Reita Fay (Tharp) Wilson. She is survived by her children, Michaela Stumpf of Morgantown, WV, Audra Wells of Fairmont, WV, and Aaron Stumpf & his wife Dallis of Fair Oaks, CA. In addition, she is survived by her greatest joy, her grandchildren: Grace Wells, Amy Wells, Landon Stumpf, Kadilyn “Kadi” Stumpf, and Anabelle Stumpf. She is also survived by her sisters, Sharolyn Hutton, Rosanna Alexander and Patty Bailey (also her best friend), along with many nieces, great nieces, a nephew, a great nephew and her close friends Gail Lehrbass, Karen Schiffbauer, and Rosann Hardin. In addition to her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Anthony Wilson.
Rebecca was a devoted teacher that had an impressive and extensive career of over 40 years that stretched across several states including Kansas, Oklahoma, California and West Virginia. She was passionate about reading and implemented programs to encourage children to read. She was a true artist at heart and displayed her artistic abilities through painting, singing, and playing multiple musical instruments. Rebecca loved being by the water, whether that be by the lake, river or ocean. She lived all over the world, attended school at the Murree Christian School in Pakistan, and maintained a deep respect for our country. She insisted on standing for the National Anthem even when standing became difficult for her. Rebecca loved cheering for her Atlanta Braves and loved supporting her cherished grandchildren while they played sports, sang, cheered, or competed educationally. Most of all, Rebecca loved the Lord, her family, and enjoying the simple (sometimes even silly) things in life. She will be greatly missed.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made in Rebecca’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777 or that you simply just read a book in her honor.
