
Obituary of Kenneth William Wills
Kenneth William Wills, 77, of Rivesville, WV, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at his home.
Kenny was born June 21, 1947, at Woods Run. A son of the late Thomas Howard, Sr. And Margaret Pearl (Wright) Wills.
He graduated from Rivesville High School in 1965. He was then drafted into the US Army where he proudly served his country from 1966-1969. He then worked about a year in Ohio as a battery man for the Y&O company. In 1970 he started working for Consol’s Robinson Run Mine as a mechanic and electrician. He spent 45 years at Robinson Run before his retirement in 2015. During his time at Robinson Run, he was the one to open the Oakdale Portal and the one to close it.
He married Sharon Marie Shahan on December 22, 1978.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren sharing stories of years gone by, playing PlayStation games, fishing, walking the dogs, oldies country (especially Johnny Cash), and watching westerns and war movies.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon; three children Kenneth Wayne Wills, Christina Carpenter, and Tammy Wills. Also surviving are his grandchildren Alica Ali-Wills, Eva Grace Wills, Kathryn Marie Carpenter, and Lillian Grace Carpenter; one sister, LaDonna Toothman. Also surviving are his grand furbabies Eli, Snoopy, Shep.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Long; his brothers Thomas H. Wills, Jr, John ‘Jack’ Wills, Wayne Wills; his sisters Della (infant), Helen Jones , Betty Jones, Jean Christian, and Lois Hibbs.
Family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff of Grant Town EMS, Baxter VFD, and all other staff that was with them for their support and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Kenneth’s memory to Grant Town EMS, 110 Ballah Ave., Grant Town, WV 26574.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 2nd & Jasper St., Rivesville, WV 26588, on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 12 noon with Pastor Marshall Woods officiating. The family requests everyone dress casual to the services in honor of Kenneth. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont where full military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veteran's Council.
