Obituary of Kay Dell Poe

Kay Dell Poe, 76, of Fairmont passed away at her home on Sunday, March 16, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born in Eugene, Oregon, and made her home there until she married her husband, Bill. They moved around the world for many years as she served as a devoted Army wife. They made their home in Fairmont after retirement. Kay served on the Board of Deacons and was on the fellowship team at The Baptist Temple. She had a deep love of animals and fed birds, squirrels and other wildlife faithfully. She was first and foremost a woman of God and a prayer warrior. To know her was to know love. In addition to her husband of 56 years, Bill, she is survived by her two sons and two daughters and their spouses: Jim and Alyssa Orvis-Poe of Sydney, Australia; Ty and Danielle Sansone-Poe of Aurora, Colorado; Hallee and Gregg Bridgeman of Winchester, KY; and Misty Poe and Mike Bowen of Fairmont; seven grandchildren, Kaylee and Alex Besten, Hal Phillips, Jayme Phillips, Scott Bridgeman, Vivienne Sansone-Poe, Jackson Bowen, and Elijah Orvis-Poe, as well as several cousins. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Anolia Bates, her brother, Steve Bates, and her grandson, Johnathan Bridgeman. The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Friends and family may visit at The Baptist Temple, 430 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, WV on Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 3PM until 5PM. The funeral will be held in the church on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 5PM with Rev. Dr. Allan Copenhaver officiating.
