
Obituary of Kasey Emmett Wertheim
Kasey Emmett Wertheim, 51, of Bridgeport, WV passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport after his brave fight against kidney cancer. He was born on June 11, 1973 in Kerrville, Texas, the son of the late Pat A. Wertheim of Arlington, TX and surviving Bonnie Keyes Wertheim of Tucson, AZ. Kasey is also survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Angela M. Justice Wertheim.
He was a faithful member of Fellowship Bible Church in Bridgeport, where he served as the sound technician for over 15 years. Kasey was a 1991 graduate of Sabino High School in Arizona and graduated from Northern Arizona University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and criminal justice. He later graduated from Phoenix University, where he obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA). Kasey proudly served as the Deputy Program Manager with ManTech, where he worked at the Federal Bureau of Investigations in Clarksburg. He had a lifetime interest and passion in fingerprint examination and was a renowned expert in his field. Kasey was called numerous times to serve as an expert witness in trials and cases throughout his career.
Kasey enjoyed listening to music of all genres, golfing, collecting unique items, and practicing woodworking, where he previously built a two-story treehouse for his two daughters during their younger years. He will be remembered as a selfless man, who was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
In addition to his wife and mother, Kasey is survived by his children, who were his pride and joy, daughters, Krystelle Gilbert and her husband Austin of Martinsburg, WV, Kira Sprouse and her husband Eric of Bridgeport, Emily Byrnside of Bridgeport, and son Alex Byrnside of Bridgeport. He is also survived by his brother, Kerry Wertheim of Lebanon, CT, sister, Katrina Wertheim Willey of Brunswick, ME, and his four nieces and nephews, Jessie, Eli, Jocelyn, and Maynard.
Kasey had a special heart for people who were in need. As a result, memorial contributions may be made in Kasey’s memory to the Clarksburg Mission, 312 North 4th Street, Clarksburg, WV 26301.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport. In accordance with Kasey’s wishes, cremation services will occur. Friends will be received at the Fellowship Bible Church, 70 Deegan Lake Drive, Bridgeport on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 12 pm until 2 pm.
