Obituary of Rodney "Big Dawg" Leo Toothman

Rodney “Big Dawg” Leo Toothman, 57, of Monongah, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born on October 24, 1967 in Fairmont, a son of the late Donald R. and Lauverna J. Shaffer Toothman. Rodney was a proud 1985 graduate of Rivesville High School. He faithfully worked as a cook at Bob Evans Restaurant in Westover, until retiring. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, building model cars, watching NASCAR races, where he cheered for his favorite drivers, Rusty Wallace and Kurt Busch, who drove the No. 2 car, watching John Wayne and Lord of the Rings movies, and spending time with his dog, Sister. He found his greatest joy in spending precious time with his friends and family. Rodney is survived by his five daughters, Jessica Toothman of Fairmont, Bethanne Tucker and her partner Lee Barber of Fairmont, Lena Maditz and her husband Justin of Mount Clare, WV, Samantha Thomas and her partner Dustin Bingamon of Rivesville, and Cheyenne Davis and her husband Tyler of Ohio, one brother, Ronald “Farmer” Toothman of Rivesville, one sister, Donna Able and her husband Gary of Fairmont, and nine grandchildren, Alyvia Tucker, Christian Toothman, Emalee Tucker, Charles Asbury, Zane Bingamon, Zariyah Bingamon, Baylee Carroll, Noah Davis, Zendayah Bingamon, and baby Maditz. Rodney is also survived by his lifelong friend, Bud Bright and his wife Sharon Bender, close friend Crystal Watkins, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Toothman, and his sister-in-law, Crazy Toothman. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville. In accordance with Rodney’s wishes, cremations services will occur. Friends will be received on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 10 am until 12 Noon. The memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 12 Noon with Pastor Roy Weese officiating.
