Obituary of Leah Virginia (Fisher) Kervaski

Leah Virginia (Fisher) Kervaski, 97, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025 in the Bridgeport Healthcare Center. She was born on February 9, 1928, a daughter to the late Okey Sherman and Myrtle Olive Higginbotham Fisher. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael R. Kervaski. She is survived by her brother, Alan Fisher and his wife Donna of Fairmont, her sister, Alma Ludwick of Clarksburg, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Leah was preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin Fisher, Bernard Fisher, Carl Fisher, and David Fisher, and her sister, Linda Fisher. Leah attended Smithfield Highschool and was a Christian by faith. She retired as a glass worker for the Hazel-Atlas Glass Company. Leah was known for being a very independent and fearless woman. She was a person who always put her family first and loved spending as much time with them as she could, especially her nieces and nephews who absolutely adored her. She was famously known as the “Pop-corn Lady” for her homemade pop-corn balls that she made for the neighborhood kids during the Halloween season. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Bridgeport Healthcare Center for their professionalism and compassion in taking care of Leah. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 E Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330. Friends will be received in the funeral home on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 11a.m. until 1p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 1p.m. with Pastor Rich Buonaiuto officiating.
