Obituary of Walter Vincent Skarzinski

Walter Vincent Skarzinski, 76, of Fairmont passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday February 9, 2025. He was born in Fairmont on November 30, 1948 to the late Leo Donald Skarzinski and Virginia Ann Cerullo Skarzinski. Walter is survived by his children, Leanna Skarzinski (Shannon) and Douglas Skarzinski (Kate). He also leaves his beloved grandchildren; Finn, Charlotte, Connor, Riley, and Noah. He is also survived by his brothers; Rod (Lyle) and L.D. (Misty), as well as his lifelong friend, Charlotte Cummings. Walt had a bold personality and was never afraid to share an opinion. He was not scared to live life his own way. This boldness was tempered by his gentle affection with all animals, especially those injured, whom he would rehabilitate. His closest animal friend was his late dog, Cubby. Walt was a skilled carpenter, enjoyed fishing, playing cards, sports, and antiques. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Walter’s memory to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 329 Maryland Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Fairmont, WV on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 1pm. Father Kishore Varaparla H.G.N. will be the celebrant with Sister Stella Cronauer C.S.J. assisting. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Fairmont.
