Obituary of Roy William Harper

Roy William Harper, 92 of Rivesville, passed away in his home on Thursday, February 6, 2025. He was born on December 23, 1932, a son to the late Walter William and Minnie Mae Hamrick Harper. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Joan Hickman Harper. He is survived by his children, Roy Edward Harper and his wife Florine, Kay Harper of Arnettsville, and DeEtta Offutt and her husband Patrick of Rivesville, his grandchildren, Jerico Offutt of Rivesville, Roscoe Offutt of Rivesville, Joseph Harper of Arnettsville, and James Harper of Arnettsville, and two cousins, Lucile and Debra of Parkersburg. In addition to his parents and wife, Roy was preceded in death by two sisters. Roy was a retired Pump Maintenance Associate for Martinka Coal Mine Company. He Enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a handyman for many friends and family members. The family has asked for donations to be made in Roy’s name to the American Lung Association, 5755 Granger Rd Ste 905, Independence, OH 44131. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV 26588. Friends will be received in the funeral home on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 4p.m. until 8p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 9a.m. with Reverend Stanley Merrifield officiating.
