Obituary of Arliss A. Hefflin, Sr.
Arliss A. Hefflin, Sr., 86, of Barrackville, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024 at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born on April 12, 1938 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Hylbert C. and Sarah Tinney Heflin. Arliss is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Constance E. Kriebel Hefflin.
Arliss was a proud United States Navy Veteran. After serving four years in the military, he became the Dean of Student Affairs at Hahnemann University, where he worked until his retirement. Arliss was a lifetime member of Hershel 'Woody' Williams VFW Post 7048 and the Ocean City American Legion Post 166. He was also a former member of the Moose, Elks, and Lions Clubs. Arliss enjoyed sports but found his greatest enjoyment to be spending precious time with his friends and family.
In addition to his wife, Arliss is survived by his son, Arliss “Bud” Hefflin, Jr. and his wife Dorothy Wright of Milton, Delaware, one brother, Ralph Heflin of California, one sister, Mildred “Bootsie” White, two grandchildren, Amanda and Alex Hefflin, as well as one great granddaughter, Aurora.
In addition to his parents, Arliss was preceded in death by one brother, Hylbert Heflin, four sisters, Maragaret Goshorn, Nina Netzel, Betty Lou Efaw, and Ann Heflin, and one granddaughter Carly Hefflin.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. In accordance with Arliss’s wishes, cremation services will occur. There will not be any public services. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
