William Duane Harvey, 92, of Fairmont, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019, at the West Virginia VA Nursing Home in Clarksburg. He was born in Fairmont on October 27, 1926, the son of the late William Harvey and Hilda Scribner Harvey.
Mr. Harvey is survived by his three children, Sharon K. Mallow of Fairmont, William J. Harvey and his wife Stacey C. Harvey of Fairmont, and Ronda L. Harvey and her husband Neil Rajapakse of Charleston, WV; four grandchildren, Jamie Mallow, Jill Stewart and her husband John J. Stewart, Alexander Harvey and Ethan Harvey, all of Fairmont; and two great grandchildren, Jeremy and Joseph Stewart.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Harvey was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma Lou Johnson Harvey and his step mother, Margaret Emily Thompson Harvey.
Mr. Harvey was a graduate of East Park and attended East Fairmont High School prior to joining the U.S. Army. He was a former member of the Baptist Temple and currently a member of Faith Church International. William worked at Harvey’s Esso, Sharon Steel and at Fairmont General Hospital. Mr. Harvey was a true pet lover and had a special place in his heart for dogs. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, walking, biking, and doing stonework around his home. William would wash his car every week if it was dirty or not and he always knew where to get cheap gas around town. He especially enjoyed going to the Outer Banks with his family.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Saturday, April 20, 2019, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Monday, April 22, 2019, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, April 22, 2019, at 11 a.m. A committal service will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
