Juanita “Dee” Cornwell, 90, passed away February 24, 2016 at Cypress Village Healthcare Center of Jacksonville, FL. Dee was born in Rivesville, WV on January 6, 1926 a daughter of the late Ben and Zoe Hayes. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Cornwell. Dee graduated from Rivesville High School. Dee loved the town of Rivesville and lived there happily until she moved to Morgantown, WV in 1967. Dee was always a “people” person and quietly, but effectively contributed to her community. She especially enjoyed her work at West Virginia Ruby Memorial Hospital and was cherished by many. In 1993, Dee survived critical injuries sustained in an airplane crash that took the life of her husband Donald. Dee then moved to Jacksonville, FL to be near her daughter. Dee was active member of Ft. Caroline Baptist Church and the Ladies Sonshine Class. She lived her faith in such a way that her behavior, demeanor, and actions showed the love that she had for her savior, Jesus Christ. Although her physical problems caused her great pain, her mind was clear until the end. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Cornwell (Eugene) Colvin of Jacksonville, FL, nieces Cindy (John) Keeling and Betty (Rick) Bonham, sisters-in-law Rose Hayes, Jean Taylor and Betty Michael, plus other dear relatives. In addition to her parents and husband, Dee was preceded in death by her sister Geraldine Tucker and brother Bennie Hayes. Memorial donations may be made to the Safe Animal Shelter, 2913 CR 220, Middleburg, FL 32068. Friends and family may visit at the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 2nd and Jasper Streets, Rivesville, on Saturday, March 5 2015 from 12noon until 2PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2PM in the funeral home with Pastor Benny Moran officiating. Interment will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont, WV.
