Obituary of Robert Scott Ashcraft

Robert Scott Ashcraft, 73, of Carolina, WV passed away Monday, June 13 at his residence. He was born December 24, 1942 in Fairmont, WV the son of the late Arlie Glen and Olive Mahon Ashcraft. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sandra Sue Stafford Ashcraft. Mr. Ashcraft was a member of the Carolina United Methodist Church. He was a veteran with the U.S. Navy as well as the reserve unit. Scott was retired from Giant Food Company in Silver Spring, MD with over 30 years of service as a baker. Scott was a very hard worker. He dedicated his life to supporting his family. His family was the most important aspect of his life. He enjoyed his many home projects that he performed by himself, including floor laying, knocking out walls, and dry walling. Scott loved his many dogs he has taken care of over the years, especially his special “Cookie”. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa Ann and her husband Scott J. Newman of St. Leonard, MD; his son, Lane Roger and his wife Vicki Ashcraft of Trenton, KY; grandchildren: Emily and Lindsey Newman and Roger and Charlene Ashcraft; sisters-in-law: Marion Pirkheim of Ohio, Mildred Hazel Frost of Morgantown, and Genevieve McPherson of Grafton; nieces and nephews: Roy Glen Ashcraft, Judy Rhoten, Kelsey Ashcraft, Kristie Smith, and Norman Ashcraft; as well as many great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his six brothers: Ennieus, Joseph, William, James, Roy R., and Robert Gene Ashcraft. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carolina United Methodist Church, in Carolina, WV. The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, RC Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, WV 26554, on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 2PM until 5PM. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 5PM with Reverend Danny Blake officiating. A private family committal service will be held at a later date at the Mt.
