Obituary of Rodger Lee Wright

Rodger Lee Wright passed away on May 17th at his home in NC after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 13, 1944 in Moundsville, WV to the late William Gordon and Olive Price Wright. After the early death of both parents, he was reared by his maternal aunt, Beulah Musgrove in Grafton and Fairmont. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt, one brother, Gene Wright and sister, Annette Wright. Rodger was a graduate of Grafton H.S. and West Virginia University with a degree in Finance and Business Administration. He pursued a career in banking for 20 years and held administrative positions in banks in Elkins, Buckhannon, and Wheeling, WV. In 1989 he left commercial banking to manage credit unions in NC and later in OK until his retirement in 2014. During his career, he was active in many banking and community organizations. He also held positions on the NC and OK State Credit Union Boards and the Dept. of Defense Credit Union Advisory Board. He was a loyal Mountaineer fan and avid golfer. He played courses throughout the U.S. and felt it was always a good day if he was on the golf course. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marsha Leezer Wright, a daughter, Shannan Leigh Molnar and husband Lance of Morgantown WV, and a son, Andrew Gordon Wright of Winston-Salem, NC. He was especially proud of his five grandchildren: Elena, Anissa, and Daniel Molnar and Aiden and Colin Wright. A celebration of life of Rodger’s life will be on Saturday, June 4th at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, with visitation at 10:00 and a memorial service at 11:00.
