Obituary of Anna Marlene Westerkamp Mohr

Anna Marlene Westerkamp Mohr, 76, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born in Peoria, Iowa on November 9, 1939, a daughter of the late John F. Westerkamp and Tena Bandstra Westerkamp. Anna was preceded in death by her loving husband James Willard Mohr and her brothers, Peter Westerkamp and Fred Westerkamp. Anna was a proud owner and operator of a successful business with her husband, Chem-Ray Corporation of Fairmont. She was also a former LPN at Pinerest Nursing Home in Grand Rapids, MI, where she met the love of her life, Jim Mohr. She was a former member of the Fleming Memorial Presbyterian Church, Charter member of the Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church and a member of the Baptist Temple, all in Fairmont. She was also a member of the Providence P.C.A. in Bradenton, FL. Anna was a devoted elder’s wife during their years with the Faith Reform Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Club in West Virginia and in Florida. She was a graduate of the Pella Christian High School, a 4-H volunteer, and devoted much of her childhood to farm life, her first job picking corn in her hometown in Iowa. She was a member of the Fairmont Garden Club and also the Garden Club in Bradenton, FL. Mrs. Mohr was a member of the Marion County Travelers Club, enjoyed square dancing, bowling, riding her bicycle in Florida and playing the piano at Sing-a-longs at the Sarasota Bay Park and also at the Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Sunshine Club and Friendship Club in Bradenton, FL, an avid gardener and possessed a special gift of helping things to grow. She was a wonderful baker and loved sharing her gifts with others. Christ and her family were the centers of her life. Anne is survived by her two sons, Scott Mohr and his wife Tina and Steve Mohr and his wife Missy; five grandchildren, Sean Mohr and his fiancé Holly Young, Cory Mohr, Bailey Mohr, Sydney Mohr and Delaney Mohr; her sister, Loretta Struik and her husband Marvin; sisters-in-law, Nancy Westerkamp and Evelyn Mohr; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Anna’s memory to the Heritage Christian School, 225 Newton Avenue, Bridgeport, WV 26330. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, WV 26554, on Sunday, May 1, 2016, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. The casket will lie in state in the Baptist Temple, 430 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554, on Monday, May 2, 2016, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral will be held in the church on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Holley Faulkner officiating.
