Obituary of William Everett Cain

William Everett Cain, 88, of Fairmont, WV died Sunday, January 14, 2018 at his residence.  He was born May 18, 1929 in Mt. Harmony Community, a son of the late Archie Leonard Cain and Susan America Wroe Cain.  He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Doris Lea Shaffer Cain, of Fairmont, WV.
Mr. Cain was a 1950 graduate of East Fairmont High School, as well as Fairmont State College. He served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War.  Mr. Cain was an active member of Gateway United Methodist Church where he was a member of the United Methodist Men.  He retired in 1993 from Westinghouse Corporation in Fairmont with 33 years of service as a maintenance mechanic.  He had previously worked with the Fairmont Aluminum Plant.  Mr. Cain was a member of the B.P.O.E. #294 Elks Lodge, and the American Legion both of Fairmont.  He loved being outdoors which included fishing, hunting, golfing and gardening.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren & great grandchildren. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Jennifer and Pat Costello of Fairmont, and Cynthia and Mike Leonard of Fairmont; a brother,  Archie and his wife Laura Lee Cain of Fairmont;  five grandchildren: Ryan Costello of Washington, D.C., Jessica Costello of Morgantown,  Brett William and his wife Courtney Costello of Morgantown,  Amanda and  her husband Alex Lake of Fairmont, and Adam Leonard and his fiancĂ© Brooke Keene of Fairmont;  two great-grandchildren, Alyza and Levi Lake, as well as several nieces and nephews, a great- niece and great-nephew,  and a sister- in-law Anna Lee Cain of Raleigh, NC. 

He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Gordan Cain, a sister Florence Cain Robinson and a niece Charlene Cain. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gateway United Methodist Church, 301 Diamond Street, Fairmont, WV 26554.

The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 2PM until 4PM and 6PM until 8PM, and on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 10AM until 11AM.  The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday January 17, 2018 at 11AM with Reverend Tim Edin officiating.  Interment will follow at the Mt.
