Obituary of Earl Lee "Joe" Lemley

Earl Lee “Joe” Lemley, 83, of Fairmont, passed away on Sunday March 27, 2016 at his residence. He was born February 5, 1933 in Everettville, WV a son of the late William and Goldie Davis Lemley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia McCafferty Lemley in 2011. Mr. Lemley was a veteran with the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He retired as Foreman from March Westin Construction with over 8 years of service. He had previously worked with Mellon-Stuart Construction as a general laborer. Joe was a member of the Laborers Union Local #714 AFL-CIO as well as the VFW Fairmont Post #629. He loved his weekly card games with his family and spending time with both his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed supplying the neighborhood families with home grown produce. Joe especially loved his special cat “Miranda” who provided him with constant companionship. He is survived by his children: Michael and his wife Ellen Lemley of Clarksburg, Alisa and her husband Rob Compton of Fairmont, Lindsey and his wife Linda Lemley of Fairmont, Jaylen and his wife Abby Lemley of Morgantown; his grandchildren: Sarah and her husband Jonathan Robbins of Fairmont, Mark Lemley of Fairmont, Ricky Kerns of Fairmont, Alex Lemley of Clarksburg, Chris and his wife Lorraine Lemley of Clarksburg, Eric and his wife Sonya Lemley of Clarksburg, Michael Lemley of Clarksburg, and Jenna Lemley of Fairmont; great grandchildren: Taylor Lemley, Evin Robbins, Emma Lemley, Ashlyn Robbins, and Violet Lemley. He is also survived by his siblings, Edward Lemley of Granville, George Lemley of Paw Paw, Junior Lemley of Worthington, and Pauline Jackson, of Arnettsville. In addition his his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, William Lemley, brother, Charles Lemley, and his sisters, Wilma Massey, Sue Ann Kiger, and Norma Jean Sewash. Friends and family may visit at the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 2PM until 8PM and on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 10 AM until 11 AM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 11AM with Pastor Bill Toothman officiating. Interment will follow at the Barrackville Cemetery in Barrackville, WV.
