Obituary of Anna Marie Counts

Anna Marie Counts, 57, of Lewisburg, WV, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born June 9, 1960 in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Harry Ralph and Anna Marie “Romagnoli” Montgomery.

Anna was a Catholic by faith.  She was a 1978 graduate of Brooke High School, a 1982 graduate of West Virginia University with a B.S. in Business Management and Marketing, and then earned her Masters degree in Liberal Studies from Hollins University in Roanoke, VA.  Anna was currently employed with the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine for over four years as the Director of Accreditation and Special Projects in Lewisburg, WV.  She previously had served for over twenty-five years as the Director of Institutional Compliance and Accreditation with National College in Roanoke, WV.  Anna was an excellent baker and enjoyed cooking.  She was a competitor in the WV State Fair where she won first prize in the baking division for her Italian Crème Cake.  She also took home 2nd and 3rd prizes in both baking and crocheting categories.  She was an avid walker, often participating in local 5K races.  Anna was loved by all who met her, she had a contagious smile and memorable laugh.  She would help in a moments notice and give till she couldn’t give anymore.  She especially loved her nieces and nephews, as if they were her own children.

She is survived by her siblings: Karen Montgomery-Reagan of Athens, OH, Jeff and his wife Debbie Montgomery of Moon Township, PA, and Dodie Montgomery and her wife Donna Toothman of Knoxville, TN; her niece and nephews: Victoria Reagan, Bryon Montgomery, and Nicholas and his wife Lindsey Montgomery; and her former spouse, Gregory Counts of Bluefield, WV.

In accordance to her wishes, cremation services will take place.  The family has entrusted Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont with her arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Roanoke, VA.  Online condolences may be made to www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
