Obituary of Robert "Bob" William Mullenax

Robert “Bob” William Mullenax, 68, of Fairmont, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 in his home. He was born May 23, 1947 in Fairmont, a son of the late William L. and Mildred K. Michael Mullenax. He is survived by his wife, Kay Springer Mullenax. Bob was a 1965 graduate of East Fairmont High School where he lettered on the varsity football team. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Fairmont. Bob retired in 2014 from Price Rubber Corporation where he was a salesman for over 13 years. He previously worked with Morgan Auto for over 8 years and Fairmont Supply for over 13 years as a salesman. Bob loved his children and grandchildren. They will forever remember him as “Chewbacca” for his uncanny impressions. When he was able, he loved to split firewood for his wood-burning stove. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Brian and his wife Sharon Mullenax of Fairmont, Thad and his wife Jennifer Mullenax of Greenville, SC, and his daughter, Marsha and her husband Charles Johnson of Anniston, AL; his grandchildren, Kristin and her husband Robert Peters, Erica Mullenax, Carissa Mullenax, William Mullenax, Noah Mullenax, Nicholas Johnson, Anna Mullenax, Naomi Johnson, Mandi Mullenax, Abby Mullenax, and Samuel Mullenax, as well as a great granddaughter, Everly Peters. He is also survived by his sisters, JoAnn and her husband Dick Nichols of Fairmont, Joyce and her husband Jack Wells of New Cumberland, MD, sister-in-law, Peggy Mullenax of Omaha, NB; and a brother-in-law Tom Rise of Fairmont. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by and infant son, Craig Alan Mullenax, brothers, William L Mullenax II, Samuel and his wife Priscilla Mullenax, Denzil Matthews, and a sister Diana Matthews Bouska. The family wishes to thank Peoples’ Hospice of Clarksburg for their compassionate and kind care of Bob over the years. Friends and family may call the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont on Thursday, February 25, 2016 form 3PM until 8PM and on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 12 noon until 1PM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 1PM with Pastor Glenn Stevenson II officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum in Fairmont.
