Obituary of Wilson Arthur Robbins

Wilson Arthur Robbins, 91 of Fairmont, WV left this earth on Friday, July 28, 2017.   He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ava Matthews Robbins, his wife of 63 years Mildred Lough Robbins, a son James Arthur Robbins, and several siblings.   He is survived by one brother, John Robbins of Fairmont, WV,   five sons and their spouses, Arthur Allen Robbins of Gray Court, SC, Kevin and Shirley Robbins of Rivesville, WV, Keith and Lisa Robbins of Rivesville, WV, Stephen and Patty Robbins of Clarksburg, WV, and Robert and Wendy Robbins of Eden, NC.   He also left four daughters and their husbands, Rebecca and Kevin McLaughlin of Concord, NC, Cheryl and Terry Daniel of Eden, NC, Ellie and Stan Lively of Belleville, MI, and Sharon and Alan Romine of Clarksburg, WV.   He has 26 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.   Wilson was a part of the “greatest generation”.  Serving in the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the Amphibious Forces during W.W.II.   He was a man of incredible strength, character, and faith.   He could often be seen walking from his home on West Side to McDonalds to enjoy coffee and conversation.   He made friends with the wonderful employees of Cracker Barrel, McDonalds, and the Rivesville Seven -11.   Thank you all for being so good to him.   His life was full of adventure, archery, hunting, gardening, studying, and hiking.   Family and friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV from 6pm until 8pm on Tuesday.   Funeral services will be the held in the funeral home Wednesday, 8-2-2017, at 11am. Rob Robbins and Zachery Layne will be officiating.   Burial will follow in the Nuzum Cemetery in Marion County, WV.  The Marion County Veterans will observe full military honors at the graveside.
