Obituary of Robert William "Bob" Farlow

Robert William “Bob” Farlow, 88, of Fairmont, WV, passed away Monday evening in his residence. He was born October 16, 1928 in Fairmont, WV, son of the late William Irving and Opal Genevieve Hutson Farlow. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucille Lenore Patton Farlow, who died in 2012. They celebrated 63 years of marriage. Mr. Farlow was a faithful member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ and blessed with the caring love and concern of his Christian church family there. He was a 1947 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, belonging to the KIBO club. He also belonged to the Fairmont Senior High State Championship football team. Bob retired from Consol Robinson Run Mine as a safety inspector, with 20 years of service. He was earlier employed with A & P Warehouse and Galis Manufacturing. He enjoyed bowling and golfing and earlier was active with hunting and fishing. Bob was an avid sports fan, supporting WVU sports and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He earlier belonged to the TBI Fraternity. Bob was active and served in other Fairmont Civic Organizations. Survivors include 2 daughters and their husbands, Linda Diane and Bruce Simmons of Bethlehem, MD and Janice Elaine and Brian Glance of Fairmont, WV, 4 grandchildren, Kyle William and Janet Simmons of Centreville, VA, Brad Allen Simmons of Harmony, MD, Lisa Elaine and Mehran Mostafavifar of Columbus OH, and Christina Marie Glance of Morgantown, WV, 3 great grandchildren, Summer Anne Simmons, Abby Joy and Sam Mostafavifar, 2 step great grandsons, David and Kyle Rogers, 2 sisters, Barbara Renaldo and her husband Deane of Myrtle Beach, SC and Helen Conaway and her husband Bob of Sun City Center, FL, a sister-in-law, Faith Steele and her companion Farrell Emerick of LaVale, MD, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and Father-in-law, Wilma and Joe Dunay and a brother-in-law, Tim Renaldo. Family and friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV from 3pm until 8pm on Thursday and 11am until 1pm on Friday. Funeral services will be held Friday, May-5-2017, at 1pm, with Evangelist Jonathan Stevens officiating.   Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown, WV. The family requests that Memorial donations be made to Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, 2013 Pleasant Valley Rd., Fairmont, WV, 26554. The family would like to thank his main caregivers, Dottie Carpenter and Diana Wheeler referred to as “his girls”.
