Obituary of Clarence E. "Bill" King

Clarence E. “Bill” King, 91, a resident of the Veteran’s Nursing Home in Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017. He was born June 26, 1925 in Shinnston, WV, a son of George and Mary Sconish King. Bill was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II as part of Merrill’s Marauders and served his country in Burma and China. A longtime resident of Bellview, Bill retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1985. He enjoyed traveling around West Virginia, visiting flea markets, gardening, hunting and fishing. Bill is survived by his three sons, William (Linda) King of Fairmont, Gary King of Taylor County, and David (Cathy) King of Teays Valley; grandchildren: Jeremy, Amanda, Shannon, Brooke, and Alex King; and four great-grandchildren: Logan, Taylor, Brady, and Weston. Bill is also survived by sisters-in-law, Louise Hillberry, Ruth Hurt, Charlotte King, and Eloise Fahrner, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillian B. Preston King on April 4 2014, his brother Leonard King, and his sister Margie King Grandstaff. Cremation services have been in entrusted to the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554.
