Obituary of Charles Edward Swick

Charles Edward Swick, 78, of White Island Rd., Fairmont, WV, passed away early Tuesday morning in Meadowview Manor in Bridgeport, WV. He was born September 6, 1938 in Sutton, WV, son of the late Lyle Edward Swick and Lula L. Clutter Hart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Ann Glasscock Swick, who died in 2013. Mr. Swick was a member of the Church of Christ of Barrackville, WV. He also was active with the White Hall Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years, stationed in Germany with the special weapons depot. He retired from D & M Welding as a machinist, with 20 years of service. He earlier worked as an employee of General Engineering Machine Co. of Benton’s Ferry community for 25 years. He was a volunteer, serving Disabled American Veterans at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center. Earlier he was active with Marion County Meals on Wheels. Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Kimberly and Frank Raines of Colfax community; 2 sons and their spouses, Craig Edward and Helen Swick of Colfax community and Shane Edward and Christy Swick of Pleasant Valley community; 3 grandchildren, Amanda Christin Raines of Colfax Community, Joslyn Raquel and her husband Seth of Crosslanes, WV, and Gabriel Reid Swick of Pleasant Valley community; 3 step-grandchildren, Chad Edward and his wife Heather Raines of Barrackville, WV, Virginia Kay Kovach of Fairmont, WV, and Kristi Kae and her husband Travis Toothman of Fairmont, WV, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Mullins. Family and friends are invited to the Church of Christ in Barrackville, WV from 12 noon until 1pm on Saturday. A memorial service will be held in the church on Saturday, 3-4-2017, at 1pm, with Evangelist Steve Snider officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in the National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV.
