Obituary of Charles "Jeff" Cleavenger

Charles Jefferson “Jeff” Cleavenger, 65, of Fairmont died Thursday, February 9, 2017 at his home. He was born on December 29, 1951 in Clarksburg, WV a son of the late Charles L. and Helen Mason Cleavenger. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Samargo Cleavenger. Jeff was a 1970 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. He retired in 1998 from Consol Energy as a long wall coordinator after 26 years of service. He then owned and operated Webnic Contruction Services, the family business of 50 years. Jeff was a member of the AF&AM Acacia Lodge #157. The biggest joy in Jeff’s life was his family. He also enjoyed the Mountaineers, Pirates, and Steelers. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting firewood, and feeding the animals on his property. Jeff was a true Mountaineer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Jaci and her husband Mark Dalton, of Fairmont, Brandi and her husband Scott Beresford, of Fairmont, and Ann Marie and her husband Chris Assel of Louisville, KY; his grandchildren, Maya, Jace, Laynie, Charlee, and Mason; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews and his beloved dog “Gracie”. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Cleavenger, and brother-in-law, Daniel Lee Samargo. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, 162 Court Street, Charleston, WV 25301. Friends and family may visit the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 1PM until 8PM and on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 12 noon until 1PM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 1PM with Reverend Dr. Jackie Joe Samargo (brother-in-law of the deceased) officiating.
