Obituary of Mildred "Mill", "Millie" Belknap

Mildred “Mill” “Millie” Morrison Belknap, 90, of Woodsfield, OH, formerly of Fairmont, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at her residence. She was born November 22, 1925 in Morgantown, WV a daughter of the late Charles Y. Morrison and the late Florence R. Thorne Morrison Hibbs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Belknap. She attended Fairmont Senior High School and married her husband, Lawrence Belknap. She and her husband moved to Lake Worth, FL in the 1950’s where she worked and retired from the Patton Company. While at the Patton Company, she helped make the life raft for one of the space missions that went to the moon, it deployed during the landing back on Earth. Mill was baptized in the Catholic Church and attended church regularly while living in Florida. She moved to Woodsfield, OH in the 1990’s. Mill enjoyed flower gardening, working word puzzles, and amateur photography. She was a very active person. She was always “out and about”. She truly loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, and extended family. Survivors include her close nieces and nephews: Cincy Hayes of Woodsfield, OH, Tammy Hayes McClellan of Grove City, OH, Kimberly Hayes Ott of Mannington,WV, Mark Hayes of Graysville, OH, Joe Lusk of Alderson, WV and Sylvia Keaton of Alderson, WV. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Mae Hibbs Hayes and her husband Melvin L. Hayes, her niece Shirley Lusk, and her close friend Jean. Friends and family may call the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 11AM until 1PM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 1PM with Father Walter M. Jagela officiating. Interment will follow at the Arnettsville Cemetery in Arnettsville, WV.
